You know this old familiar tune

Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb... Mary had a little lamb and its fleece was white as snow.

For some reason 6 yr old Emma thinks this is Mary - Jesus's mummy...

Hmmmm, there is a certain logic there, no?

The logic is perfect!

Here, though, Mary has whipple dams.

Here Mary has a Lamp. Yep a Lamp.

I always thought that to be true. I thought it was some kind of allegorical poem written so that English Catholic schoolkids could learn about the Blessed Mother without being persecuted by the Protestants. According to Wikipedia, it has a much more mundane origin.

Great blog, by the way. I found it via Building Cathedrals.

Whipple dams and lamps kinds ruin the logic, eh. ;-) Like Jennie C and JesusthroughMary - I wondered if maybe Emma had hit on something... what is the saying 'out of the mouths of babes'. But then being a former protestant - perhaps that is why it took my 6 yr old to open my eyes. ;-)
Thanks for dropping by JesusthoughMary, hope you come by again.

But who wouldn't love to hear a 2 year old and a 4 year old singing.."Mary had a little lamp, the bendy goose neck kind"
