What do large families drive?

No doubt most of my readers have read what Danielle and her readers have had to share about what kind of vehicle large families choose but in case any of you have not see the comment that took the prize click HERE. I am, almost, seriously considering getting one for us, especially if I can find one that does have a glass partition between the driver and passengers.

What a thought ! I only have three children and a couple cocker spaniels but wouldn't it be great to have a glass partition ? Anyone out there work for GM? How bout a suggestion. I bet this would be a popular option !

Great... I am challenged now to find one of the stretched SUVs in New York, some companies have SUV lemos that are even longer than that! They also have stretched HUM Vs. Some are ridiculously long!

I used to take large numbers of law students and sometimes journalists up to Nitassanan in Quebec and Labrador (from Sept Illes and north east of there... ) There were days I would have liked a glass partition, in my old van even with the "grown ups"!

We also would race Irish currachs, ocean going rowing boats. I think large numbers of rowers were more like a large car full of kids. They tended to range from the healthy types, who would leave yogurt containers in hard to find places and stink up the van, to the "we won, time to get really terribly drunk" types, who had to be hosed off when we got back to our own boat yard in NYC after a long drive from Pittsburgh. For that crowd, a glass partition or sort of box which could easily be cleaned would have been just the trick!

We had a number of rowers from Turkey, Moslems ... they were great! They not only took all their food containers with them, when they left the van, but they did not drink. They also cooked very well, and were very good about carrying drinking Irish rowers in and out of the vans.   Their names all ended with "olu" so we had a game while driving, guess my olu, a sort of which Turkish rower am I?

I feel inspired to find just the right stretch vehicle for you all ... how about a stretched VW bug? I think that would be the ticket! Or for weekends, a stretched motorcycle! You could line the kids up in descending order of size, the littlest in a side car way in the back!

Well,... I'm off to find the photo of the big SUV.

All the best
Thine in the light
