and heeeere it is!

SURPRISE!!
Our NEW TO US 1994 van! How did this happen? Well - I can only attribute it to Saint Anthony's prayers. Our new cheque arrived on his feast day and the money was available this morning - the cut off date! So we are off in a few minutes to Wednesday night Mass to thank GOD and maybe have Father bless our van if he has time!

God is Good!

Really great news... looks like a real peach!!! We Quakers are not suposed to be big on Saints... but, a wee secret, for thee and thy readers ( and who ever will rat me out to Ministry and Counsel of the New York Quaker Quarter - just kidding =) ) I have always had a soft spot for St. Anthony, and he has a funny way of coming through in a pinch.
I lost a lap top computer. I didn't pray to St. Tony, for ... reasons... but was tempted to... well, a Catholic friend had been heart broken at damage done to a statue of Saint Anthony, so while in Quebec, at St. Anne du Beaupret, I bought her a small St. Anthony statue. Well, months latter, ( the computer now missing for half a year... ) she turns up unexpected, suitcase and guitar in hand... asking to stay a few nights. I make up the couch for her, and place St. Anthony by the side table for her. Tucking in the sheets, between the backing of the couch and the frame of the couch... the missing lap top. So, I frown at my dear pal, and ask, "Tony! Will thee stop trying to make a Catholic out of me already!!!"
When I saw that thee had a photo surprise coming, I thought it would be the photographs of thy daughter and Jeff walking on the water in Cape Cod on her blog! That was a remarkable thing!

Oh, another St. Anthony story, while we are thanking him for the van... I had a terrible time on a job recently, where I had to leave a really bad situation, out of town, building boats... frost bite on one hand... and was offered an empty appartment for a night or two as I worked out how to extracate myself from the project.
There was nothing in the place, not a stick of furniture, no soap, no paper in the bathroom, no clothes hangers... nothing. The only object in the apartment (in light of even sleeping on the floor was a God send... ) was... a painting of Saint Anthony. I must say, it was nice to have a pal share the isolation of those few winter nights. I did not feel at all alone.
SO, again, thanking St. Anthony for sending thee hope and joy.

All the very best
thine in the light

Great, great news!

I'm also struck by the fact that you had wrestled yourself into obedience to the God's apparent "no" at that point. He loves even a grudging one I have found. And every so often He gives a lollipop to take away the sting! :-)
