Jesse Tree - Second Friday of Advent
Todays reading may feel somewhat familiar and this is because it encompasses the reading from the first Sunday of Advent when we were introduced to Jesse and his son David - which is the line of Kings that Jesus is descended from. Here we learn that Saul, who has found disgrace before the Lord and lost his kingship (1 Samuel 15) through disobedience, is feeling tortured by an evil spirit but when David plays the harp for him, he feels peace. Todays symbol is the harp.
